Pay Rate: $23 – $30 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking Medical Support Assistants (MSAs) to support Community Care scheduling services for the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. In this role, you will help coordinate care for Veterans by managing consult intake, scheduling appointments with community providers, and maintaining accurate documentation.
This position supports a large federal healthcare contract serving Veterans in the VISN 20 Northwest Network. Multiple openings are anticipated, and staffing levels may adjust based on VA operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform consult intake and processing for Community Care referrals
- Schedule medical appointments for Veterans with community healthcare providers
- Conduct outreach to Veterans and medical providers to coordinate care
- Maintain accurate documentation following VA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Monitor consult status and follow up to ensure timely care coordination
- Escalate scheduling issues or delays according to VA procedures
- Enter and manage patient data accurately in scheduling systems
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in medical scheduling, patient services, or healthcare administrative support
- Knowledge of medical terminology and patient scheduling workflows
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or federal healthcare systems
- Experience with Community Care referral management or consult scheduling
Additional Requirements
- Resume demonstrating relevant healthcare administrative experience
- Verification against the HHS OIG Exclusion List
- Ability to comply with federal contract requirements
