Metrology Technician

Metalcrafters Transparencies and Composites has an immediate direct hire opening for a skilled Quality Laser Tracker Technician to join our team. MTCcorp. is a full-service manufacturer of composite and metallic components for Aerospace & Defense as well as Automotive and General Industrial applications. In addition, we are a leader in the production of tempered and laminated glass for aircraft windshields and short run automotive manufacturing needs.

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will be working in a fast-paced machine shop and will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process by performing in-process inspections and final inspections of aerospace parts. The candidate will have experience with various tools and equipment, including utilizing VeriSurf to operate a Leica Laser Tracker.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Will be supporting multiple departments such as machine shop, assembly, weld shop & glass.
• Performing First article inspections, In-process and final inspections.
• Visually mapping out parts on thickness and diameters to assist other departments such as benching or machine shop.
• Mechanical inspection with tools such as pin gauge, bore gauge, height gauge, countersink gauge, ultrasonic gauge, plug thread gauges, etc.
• Creating bubble drawings
• Creating Verisurf reports that match the bubble drawings and AS9102 inspection reports.
• Performing any dimensional inspection that is needed, with or without Lecia laser tracker.

Experience:

• GD&T knowledge and experience is required.
• Blueprint reading knowledge and experience is required.
• 3 years’ experience minimum with Verisurf is required.
• 3 years’ operating a Leica Laser Tracker w/ a T-Probe is required.
• Performing AS9102 First Article Inspections is required.
• Ability to use manual inspection equipment is required.
• Ability to manage projects effectively.
• Must have an analytical and process-driven approach, with a high attention to detail.
• Capability in multi-tasking, including prioritization of work and management/organization of time.
• Strong drive for results is essential, with self-directed leadership, requiring minimal supervision & being proactive.
• Must possess high ethical standards and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Physical Demands – General Activities While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand all day and use hands and fingers to handle or feel products. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to forty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
