STUDENT INTERVENTION SPECIALIST

 

Title:  Student Intervention Specialist

Supervisor:  Building Principal

Salary  Range:  PSE Salary Schedule 

Location:Mountain View Elementary

Conditions of work:  180 Days

Hours:4 hours/Day (4.5 w/lunch)

 

 

Summary:

The Student Intervention Specialist (SIS) supports students' academic and behavioral success under the direction of the Building Administrator or certificated designee.  This role builds positive relationships with students and stakeholders, provides targeted interventions, teaches conflict-resolution skills, assists in addressing attendance challenges and reinforces schoolwide values and expectations for academic excellence.  The SIS will support the implementation of schoolwide practices and effective academic and behavioral strategies identified to meet the unique needs of students.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Restorative Justice Practices
    • Use restorative practices to proactively address and repair student relationships
    • Mediate conflict resolution(s)
    • Lead student circles
  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
    • Participate in PBIS committee meetings
    • Support SWIS data preparation
    • Implement PBIS rewards and supports
  • Academic Interventions
    • Participate in Tutorials
    • Provide support academic interventions
    • Log and track academic growth for identified students
  • Behavioral Supports
    • Gather, share and monitor pertinent information for the support of behavior intervention and support for positive outcomes
    • Implement Check-in/Check-out Program to monitor at-risk students and coordinate efforts with staff
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively through a variety of methods
  • Support student supervision with the intent to monitor interventions during a non-instructional and unstructured time
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal/designee.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of study at an institution of higher education, it must meet the criteria of the Higher Education Act, Section 101 (a). All classes must be at level 100 or higher, OR
  • Associate’s degree OR
  • Pass the ETS Parapro Assessment test or in the process of completing para-pro certification.
  • Bilingual/Biliterate Highly Preferred
  • Experience working with P-12 students.
  • First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain.
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills.
  • Demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with schedule changes as students’ needs change.
  • Work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting preferred

180-259 Day Employees- Paid leave benefits to include 10 sick days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days.

260 Day Employee-Paid leave benefits to include a minimum of 12 sick days, 13 paid holiday and 3 personal leave days and a minimum of 10 days’ vacation after the first year.

 

*Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
