Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across assigned regional routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or by hand when necessary
- Transport a variety of cargo including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and other specialized freight
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT standards
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with federal regulations
- Follow designated routes efficiently while managing delivery schedules to meet customer expectations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route changes, delays, or issues encountered during deliveries
- Assist with loading or unloading cargo at customer sites when required, ensuring proper handling of sensitive or heavy items
- Operate additional equipment such as dump trucks or roll-off trucks for specific freight types as needed
Qualifications
- Valid CDL-A license with a clean driving record and proven experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmissions
- Demonstrated experience in truck driving within a regional setting, including route driving and delivery operations
- Familiarity with various types of freight including refrigerated goods, flatbeds, tankers, and specialized equipment like dump trucks or roll-off trucks
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or manual methods when necessary
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safety compliance
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with dispatchers and customers
- Physical ability to perform load handling tasks and conduct vehicle inspections regularly
