The ideal candidate will possess a background in underwriting and be committed to delivering outstanding service and underwriting results. Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Underwrite and grow a portfolio of profitable excess casualty business. Develop and lead a high-performing team of Excess Casualty underwriters. Aid in the development and execution of underwriting strategy. Monitor portfolio performance to maintain profitability. Cultivate strong relationships with brokers, clients, and key industry stakeholders. Execute strategy with a focus on the management of risk while driving business growth and achieving profit objectives. Collaboratively work with our Corporate Underwriting, Claims, Risk Engineering, Sales & Distribution, Leadership, and others to effectively meet quality servicing standards and to achieve underwriting goals. Maximize business value through portfolio optimization, operational efficiency, and risk selection. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings. Utilize technology and data analytics to improve decision-making and operational performance. Create a work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation, and cooperation. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or CPCU/ARM designation a plus. 10 years of relevant experience in casualty insurance. Strong technical underwriting background with experience in leadership roles preferred. Proven success building casualty portfolios. In-depth knowledge of casualty markets and trends. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skill Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: Strong, respected reputation throughout the Northeast Region Leadership ability with management experience preferred. Exceptional oral and written communication, with the ability to provide concise executive summaries to senior management. Highly collaborative and able to work effectively across the organization as well as with external stakeholders.
