Mt Lebanon Baptist Church
Chesapeake, VA Full Time
POSTED ON 10/12/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/9/2027

Employment Status: Temporary Full-Time, with potential for permanent employment based on organizational need, performance, and available funding

Work Schedule & Availability

The regular work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Because facility emergencies may occur outside of regular business hours, this position requires flexibility to respond to occasional after-hours emergencies, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.

This is a multi-site position, and travel between Mount Global Fellowship of Churches locations will be required based on operational needs.

Position Summary

Mount Global Fellowship of Churches is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Facilities & Infrastructure Specialist to support facility operations across multiple locations.

This position requires someone who can independently assess facility concerns, determine appropriate next steps, coordinate vendors and contractors, perform minor repairs, support preventive maintenance, and respond to facility work orders. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently while knowing when an issue requires escalation or the expertise of a licensed professional.

This is not solely an administrative position. The person selected must be willing to work hands-on while also having the experience and judgment to help move facility issues from identification through resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess facility concerns, troubleshoot problems, and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Troubleshoot common building issues involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors and locks, water intrusion, roofing, pest concerns, and general maintenance.
  • Determine whether an issue can be addressed internally or requires a licensed or specialized contractor.
  • Perform minor repairs and general maintenance within demonstrated skill level and authorization.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor visits, including scheduling, site access, walkthroughs, service calls, installations, and follow-up work.
  • Communicate facility concerns and expected scope of work clearly to vendors and contractors.
  • Monitor vendor performance and quality of work and communicate concerns when services do not meet expectations.
  • Review vendor recommendations and help evaluate repair versus replacement options with consideration for safety, operational need, and cost.
  • Confirm authorized vendor work has been completed and document required follow-up.
  • Respond to assigned work orders and maintain accurate and timely status updates.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance, safety, compliance, and operational concerns.
  • Support preventive maintenance schedules for building systems and equipment.
  • Assist with facility repairs, renovations, capital projects, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Respond to urgent facility matters, including active leaks, HVAC failures, water intrusion, loss of essential building systems, and similar concerns.
  • Provide on-site support for after-hours facility emergencies when required.
  • Maintain accurate records, photographs, service information, and documentation for assigned work.
  • Travel between Fellowship locations based on operational needs.
  • Perform other facility and infrastructure duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, construction, property maintenance, skilled trades, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of common building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and general maintenance.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot facility concerns and recommend appropriate next steps.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, or service technicians.
  • Ability to recognize when work requires a licensed or specialized professional.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable using email, smartphones, computers, and electronic work-order systems.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel between Fellowship locations.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with facility operations.

Preferred

  • Three or more years of facilities, building maintenance, construction, property management, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple buildings or locations.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, repairs, or facility projects.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and basic facility safety and compliance practices.
  • Experience reviewing estimates, scopes of work, service reports, or contractor recommendations.
  • Trade-related training, certification, or experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, construction, or general building maintenance.
