What are the responsibilities and job description for the Charter Bus Driver/ tour bus driver position at Mt. Lassen Motor Transit, INC.?
- Charter and tour bus driver position starting in 2026 (i have work for you when bus driving is slow). SPAB certified is a huge bonus. FULL and PART TIME positions available.
- CONDUCT: Drivers are expected to conduct themselves in a friendly and orderly fashion at all times.
- REPORT TIME: A driver is to report for duty at the time and place designated, and shall report in sufficient time as may be required to perform all pre-trip inspections.
- TRAVEL TIME: While the dispatcher will provide suggested travel times, it is also each driver’s responsibility to gauge travel time to pick-up point, taking into account distance, traffic, weather, etc., in order to arrive at the pick-up point on time. Be safe, but on time.
- SPOT TIME: A driver shall report to the designated pick-up points fifteen (15) minutes prior to departure time unless otherwise indicated on the charter order. Being on time is considered very important.
- ROUTING: A driver is responsible for familiarizing himself or herself with routing and destination points, giving special attention to specific instructions that are given by the office, tour company, or charter party.
- LOADING AND UNLOADING PASSENGERS: Each driver is to assist in the loading and unloading of passengers. He or she should stand at the door and offer his or her hand to assist passengers in or out of the coach. Step stools must be used especially when the charter party is senior citizens.
- LOADING AND UNLOADING LUGGAGE: Each driver is responsible for the loading and unloading of passenger’s baggage while on charter. A driver must be physically capable of lifting and carrying baggage.
- GREETING PASSENGERS: A driver should, at the outset of a charter trip; welcome the group aboard, identify himself or herself, expresses wishes for an enjoyable trip and offer assistance with questions or problems. He or she should also give a very brief description as to the location of safety equipment, how windows can be opened and the operation and use of roof hatches in the event of an emergency. At the termination of a charter trip or tour a driver shall thank the group for traveling with Lassen Motor Transit and express the company’s wish to provide service for them in the future.
- CLEANLINESS OF THE MOTORCOACH: Each driver during the course of a charter or tour will ensure that the cleanliness of the coach is reasonably maintained. This may require the driver to sweep the bus and empty the garbage cans.
- PAPERWORK: All paperwork for a given charter order will be expected to be turned in after completion of the trip. Driver’s logs should be handed in with charter paperwork upon completion of the trip. All paperwork must be NEAT, COMPLETE, ACCURATE, and PROMPT.
- DOT RULES AND REGULATIONS: All drivers are expected to be familiar with DOT rules and regulations and to comply with the same at all times. All drivers must be familiar with proper procedures and log preparation.
- SMOKING: Drivers ARE NOT PERMITTED to smoke at any time while driving or waiting in a motorcoach or while assisting passengers unloading or loading.
