Job Summary
Provides support to the Advocate and Venture Magazine programs which foster the education and professional development of students. Collaborates with program participants and assists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of program initiatives.
Essential Duties
- Assists with and supports the design, delivery, and evaluation of The Advocate and Venture Magazine programs. Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Assists the student editors in all facets of content, print, and digital media operations.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of annual student media competition including, but not limited to, layout and design, news writing, feature writing, photography, multimedia reporting, and ethics.
- Assists with submission of annual unit planning and year-end reporting including, but not limited to, list of participants, awards and honors received, summary of activities, and recommendations for improvements.
- Maintains accurate inventory of school-owned equipment and materials; requests repairs to equipment as required, and requests approval for new purchases, including equipment and software, as needed.
- Provides regular feedback to students on digital and traditional media submissions. Stays abreast of digital media and other emerging technologies, including training and support for students in the program.
- Assists with promoting, recruiting, training, and mentoring students in The Advocate and Venture Magazine programs.
Additional Duties
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in writing, journalism, or related field
- One (1) year of experience as editor in chief or similar position at a publication
- Intermediate skills in Adobe Cloud suite, including Photoshop and Indesign
- Experience with managing video and broadcasting teams and social media
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in both in person and virtual office environment.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting weight up to 25 lbs.
Salary Placement
Initial salary placement will be within the posted range or pay rate of the position and is based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. Please include all relevant education and full and part-time experience (including unpaid and volunteer experience) in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past education and/or experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
