We have a small, 24 bed unit nursing home unit.
Ratios:
Day shift = 4 CNA's, 2 observation aides, 1 charge nurse, Directors on Mon-Thrs
Night Shift = 3 CNA's, 1 observation aide, 1 charge nurse
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support medical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with phlebotomy when qualified
- Ensure patient safety through proper manual handling techniques and safe transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer devices
- Document patient information meticulously in medical records while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect confidentiality
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care tailored to individual needs
- Respond promptly to patient calls or emergencies using critical thinking skills developed through experience in acute or emergency care settings
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program. Hospital will pay to have licensure transferred to Nevada
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring memory or dementia care
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks/Cerner) systems for accurate documentation
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, medication administration support, and basic life support (CPR) certification
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), assisted living communities, or home health environments is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safe lifting practices and manual handling protocols
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate caregiving approach that fosters trust and comfort among patients
