Pre-K Special Education
Ed Tech III - Adaptive Skills
Job Goal(s): To assist in the provision of an appropriate and quality education for identified students with disabilities.
Qualifications
- 90 credits of approved study or completion of approved alternate certification pathway
- Ed Tech III certification from Maine DOE
- CHRC (Fingerprinting Approval)
- BHP Certification Preferred
- SafetyCare Certification Preferred
- 1 year experience working with preschool children preferred
Performance Responsibilities
- Informs Special Education and regular classroom teacher(s) of any problems or special information regarding individual students.
- Participates in training programs, as assigned.
- Meets with teacher or appropriate content specialist and receives instruction / direction on a regular basis.
- Conducts one-on-one or small group instruction with indirect supervision from the lead teacher or content specialist.
- Conducts and assists with group learning and play activities.
- Works with individual or small groups of students in the classroom and on field trips.
- Consistently observes, records, follows and implements positive behavior support strategies developed by the team.
- Carries out assigned duties relating to the supervision of students (e.g., recess, lunch, boarding buses, class trips).
- Supervises students for recess, lunch, and boarding buses, class trips, and to and from classes and/or other related services programs.
- Provides classroom management functions.
- Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information regarding students and their families.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism in following and supporting school district policies, school rules and team standards in all areas.
- Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Special Education staff person, Special Education administrator and building principal.
- Reports to lead teacher if unable to resolve a conflict with a colleague.
- Follows all necessary requirements regarding time clock procedures and adjustment slips
- Substitutes for other support staff when requested by administration (District Office).
- Follows expectations in the Special Education Ed Tech manual.
- Is dependable, has positive work relationships, and a positive attitude towards students, colleagues, and the work tasks.

If providing services in a Section 28 program:
- Implements the individual treatment plan under the supervision of the Section 28 program supervisor
- Completes billing requirements for Section 28 services daily, if providing services in a Section 28 program.
- Participates in weekly BHP supervision with the Section 28 program supervisor
Working Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:15-3:45
Travel Requirements
- Travel between schools or community locations may be required
