- Minimum of three years successful experience in an EMS position within the last five years Relevant work experience, education, training, and industry credentials. The instructor will show evidence of a variety of experiences in Public Safety/ Emergency Medical Services
- Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Career & Technical Education Emergency Medical Technician / Firefighting (803) Certificate, Maine Department of Education
- Teaching and supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and community partners
- Professional, cooperative, and respectful of beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others
- Teach students about blending academic accomplishment with practical experience
- Provide a work based learning atmosphere that promotes student achievement, aspirations, and respectful responsible student behavior
- Implementing a series of lessons and applied learning activities aimed at preparing students from industry certification and/or concurrent enrollment college credit.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, conduct program advisory meetings, and participating in professional organizations, coursework and conferences
- Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
- Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities
- Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
- Participate in school and community events
- Work with outside agencies and community organizations to accomplish the common goal of recruiting and developing future firefighters, Adheres to IEP's and differentiated instruction
- Maintain professional teaching certification through the Maine Department of Education
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Director of FCTEC
