Role Description This is a PRN role with opportunity for both inpatient and outpatient therapy services, on-site Occupational Therapist based in Bellingham, WA. The Occupational Therapist will assess residents’ functional abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills, safety, and independence. Responsibilities include collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team, documenting evaluations and progress notes, and educating residents, families, and staff on therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, and strategies for functional improvement. The role involves supporting both skilled nursing and assisted living residents, facilitating group and individual therapy sessions, and ensuring services align with regulatory standards and best practices. The Occupational Therapist will contribute to a positive, respectful environment that promotes dignity, engagement, and quality of life.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, with the ability to design and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Knowledge of Medicine as it relates to geriatric care, chronic conditions, and multidisciplinary treatment in skilled nursing and assisted living settings.
- Excellent Communication skills for collaborating with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members, and for clear documentation and care planning.
- Experience or interest in Pediatrics or working with residents across different age groups, when applicable to the care setting.
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Washington.
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program; NBCOT certification preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing resident needs.
- Commitment to person-centered care, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
