Sous Chef

As the Sous Chef with Mt. Bachelor Assisted Living and Memory Care, you will consistently provide a fine dining experience to all residents in the community. You will participate in the food service operation of the community providing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special event food and beverage service. As Sous Chef, you will work with the Dining Services Director in training and supervising culinary staff.

What we look for in a Sous Chef:

• Experience/ knowledge of special diets and meal preparation for large groups

• Ability to lead and supervise other staff (management experience preferred but not required)

• Demonstrates problem solving and ability to handle emergent situations 

• Preferred Culinary Arts Degree and related experience

• Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities 

• Effectively implement and carry out change 

• Ability to recruit, hire, train and manage food service personnel, and provide effective direction 

• Skilled in interpersonal communications to effectively interact with staff members and residents

What you can expect to do as the Sous Chef:

• Function as Supervisor over cooks and other food service associate

• Maintenance of appropriate sanitation standards in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations

•  Assists the Dining Services Director in purchasing and maintaining inventory of food products and kitchen supplies

• Plan menus for daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, as well as special events 

• Answer resident inquiries and correspondence related to the overall food service operation and dining area

• Coordinate workflow and schedules to ensure that deadlines are met, and that policies and procedures are followed

• Develop and maintain a good working relationship and cooperative attitude with intradepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the community

Required Certifications:

• Food Worker Card

• Serve Safe Manager

$24.50 - $26.50/hourly
*Depending on Experience
