Mt. Ararat High School seeks dynamic, engaging math educators to apply for an open position to join our math department.
Start Date: August 17, 2025
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a mathematics teacher of students in grades 9-12 at Mt. Ararat High School.
- Develop lessons and provide instruction in diverse math courses in the standard high school progression; experience and interest in teaching Geometry is preferred.
- Collaborate with Mt. Ararat staff to implement existing curriculum in assigned courses.
- Maintain and develop assessments to support students in demonstrating rigorous content knowledge within math.
- Collaborate with colleagues, the department leader, school administrators and support specialists to ensure students receive adequate support.
- Manage classroom behavior and support learning for students of varying age ranges and backgrounds.
- Provide meaningful communication with families in support of student learning.
- Support the academic and emotional needs of students participating in schoolwide programs, including Advisory and the Eagle Legacy Project program.
- Participate in professional work associated with curriculum development, planning, and assessment.
- Support and participate in non-instructional duties and other responsibilities, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in math or math-related fields.
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education Mathematics 6-12 (300) Certification.
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education Background Check (CHRC) Authorization
- Experience and interest in engaging with high school students.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to skillfully manage time and scheduling across diverse needs.
- Skilled in the use of technology and knowledge of student and educational information systems.
- Professional manner, strong emotional intelligence, and desire to collaborate.
