The successful candidate combines practical troubleshooting skills with patience, sound judgment, and clear communication. You will work closely with school and district staff, senior IT team members, and vendors to keep technology running smoothly and help users feel confident with district systems. Primary Responsibilities: Help Desk and User Support • Receive, document, prioritize, track, and resolve support requests through the district ticketing system. • Provide timely updates and explain solutions clearly to users with a wide range of technical experience. • Troubleshoot common issues involving computers, mobile devices, printers, classroom technology, passwords, logins, and basic software use. • Escalate complex or specialized issues to senior IT staff or vendors and follow through to resolution. Network, Systems, and Device Support • Assist with basic monitoring and troubleshooting of wired and wireless connectivity, switches, access points, internet services, printers, and related equipment. • Install, configure, update, and deploy computers, Chromebooks, mobile devices, peripherals, classroom technology, and approved software under senior staff guidance. • Perform routine maintenance, including software updates, security patches, basic backups, equipment cleaning, and simple repairs. • Support district cybersecurity practices, account security, endpoint management, and data-protection procedures. Software and Application Support • Provide first-level support for approved instructional and administrative platforms, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, student information systems, learning platforms, and other web-based tools. • Assist with account creation, password resets, basic roles and permissions, licensing questions, browser compatibility, printing, and routine configuration issues. • Support basic data imports and exports, rostering, and single sign-on tasks in accordance with privacy and authorization requirements. • Test and document simple application changes, coordinate vendor support cases, and create quick-reference guides and knowledge base articles. • Provide informal one-on-one or small-group guidance so staff can use district tools effectively and securely. Website Content and Design • Update and maintain district and school websites using the district content management system. • Create and edit pages, announcements, calendars, banners, images, and simple layouts in collaboration with administrators and communications staff. • Keep content current, accurate, accessible, user-friendly, and consistent with district branding and style guidelines. • Monitor site functionality and assist with minor design, content, and accessibility improvements. Technology Operations • Maintain accurate inventories of hardware, software, licenses, and assigned equipment. • Assist with purchasing recommendations, equipment deployment, responsible disposal, annual rollover, onboarding and offboarding, testing, school opening, and other technology projects. • Collaborate with staff to identify everyday technology needs and improve support processes. • Protect confidential student, employee, and district information; comply with FERPA, district policies, and acceptable-use requirements. • Participate in ongoing learning related to district platforms, cybersecurity, accessibility, and customer service, and perform other reasonably related duties as assigned. Skills for Success • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather information, follow established procedures, and recognize when to escalate. • Working knowledge of common hardware, operating systems, software applications, and basic network concepts. • A customer-service mindset, clear written and verbal communication, and patience when explaining technical information to non-technical users. • The ability to organize and prioritize multiple requests, work independently with guidance, collaborate as part of a team, and learn new systems quickly. • Good judgment, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and follow legal and district requirements. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate will be available to work approximately four hours per day, Monday through Friday. The specific daily schedule will be determined in consultation with the selected candidate based on district needs.
