The Planning Designer 2 typically gathers preliminary documentation (inventory maps, circuit maps, look-ups, load data, etc.), utilizes AutoCADAuto Utility Design to prepare construction drawings per clients' standards, adds material information, completes various forms, calculates pricing, and organizes files for final packaging. Has a strong understanding of overheadunderground construction standards as well as reading and interpreting civil drawings, survey drawings, land descriptions, field notes, work order sketches and/or other mapping reference materials. Assists Planner in work order process to provide quality maps, forms and completed work order package for client. Typically possess 1-5 years of experience using one or more versions of AutoCAD 2014 software or equivalent underground electrical systems. The position will have some supervision and guidance but will require a self-driven individual who can manage workload independently after training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Proficient in excel and various Microsoft based programs.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Initiative-taking and possesses a strong attention to detail.
• Possesses strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to work in fast paced work environment with quick turnaround times.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timelines, and to prioritize work.
• Ability to take direction from and work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
• Course work in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification.
• Entry-level position (minimum of one year of professional drafting experience).
• Mastered basic commands of at least one type of CAD system (ability to occasionally use higher-level commands, time-saving programs, and routines).
• Knows the difference between paper space and model space; can work with viewports efficiently.
• Is able to read and understand civil (survey) maps.
• SAFETY, SAFTEY, SAFTEY! Always maintain a safe working environment including on site in office and out in the field via an ever-changing environment.
• Utilize customer standards to deliver, develop, and implement cost effective designs. Maintain effective communication with peers to help facilitate larger customer driven jobs.
• Work in time efficient manner to adhere to company driven benchmarks to avoid construction delays.
