Job Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)

About MSR Diesel Repair

At MSR Diesel Repair, we don't just do standard maintenance—we handle heavy-duty diagnostics, roadside emergency service, and full vocational truck upfitting. From building out specialized work trucks to solving complex electrical issues on Class 7 & 8 rigs, we take on the tough jobs that other shops turn away. We are looking for a skilled, driven, and persistent technician who takes pride in high-quality craftsmanship and isn't afraid to tackle a challenge.

What We Are Looking For

We are hiring an Experienced Heavy Truck Technician with strong mechanical skills, advanced electronics diagnostic expertise, and an eye for custom builds.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Never gives up: You view complex electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical issues as puzzles to solve—never taking the easy way out or throwing random parts at a problem.
  • Loves variety: You enjoy switching gears between diagnostic shop work, custom vocational upfitting builds, and dynamic mobile service calls.
  • Is self-motivated and adaptable: You take ownership of your work whether you are at a bay in the shop or dispatched out in the service truck.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics & Electronics: Perform complex mechanical and electronic diagnostics using scan tools and software to trace electrical circuits, resolve fault codes, and repair engine, transmission, and aftertreatment systems.
  • Vocational Truck Upfitting: Assemble, install, wire, and integrate specialized equipment and bodies onto vocational chassis (e.g., auxiliary electrical circuits, hydraulic systems, lighting, controls, and PTOs).
  • Mobile & Roadside Service: Respond to occasional mobile repair calls using the company service truck to perform emergency diagnostics, electrical work, and mechanical repairs in the field.
  • General Mechanical Repair: Perform routine maintenance, engine overhauls, brake systems, suspension, and drivetrain repairs on Class 7 & 8 trucks.
  • Documentation: Accurately record diagnostic steps, parts used, and labor details on digital work orders.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 3 years of professional heavy-duty diesel technician experience. Experience with truck upfitting or auxiliary equipment installation is a strong plus.
  • Diagnostics & Electrical: Proven proficiency in reading electrical schematics, troubleshooting wiring/modules, and utilizing diagnostic scan tools, including Bosch diagnostic systems and troubleshooting software (or equivalent multi-brand tools like Cummins Insite, Detroit DDDL, CAT ET, etc.).
  • Field Readiness: Comfortable operating a service truck and performing independent roadside or field repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Tools: Must possess a complete set of professional hand and pneumatic/power tools suitable for heavy-duty truck repair.
  • Driver's License: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (Commercial Driver's License / CDL preferred for test driving and service calls).

Schedule & Shift

  • Work Week: Monday – Friday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Guaranteed 40 hours per week)
  • Overtime: Available based on shop volume and roadside service demand
