What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician or Assistant - Avian/Exotics at Angell West position at MSPCA-Angell?
This is a full-time position, 36hrs a week, 7:30am-8pm Thursday-Saturday, rotating holidays.
We are looking for an experienced Assistant or a Certified Vet Technician to join our Waltham team.
This position provides technical support to our Avian/Exotics Veterinarian by assisting with case management and technical procedures of A/E patients, as well as communications with clients and referring veterinarians. We are looking for applicants with Avian/Exotic specific technical skills including, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia, gavage feeding, medication administration and critical care.
This position provides a unique opportunity to practice in an intimate client-focused setting, but with numerous amenities from the larger MSPCA-Angell Boston hospital as support. We are a values based organization with a focus on client service, patient care and life-work balance.
Compensation
Veterinary Assistants starting $22-$27/hour
Certified Veterinary Technicians starting $25-$30/hr, $5000 Sign on Bonus for CVTs!

Experience
Required
- 1 year(s): As an Veterinary Assistant, if you have a minimum of 1 year of experience working in a fast paced animal clinic or wildlife sanctuary or animal hospital.
- To be hired as a technician a qualified candidate must be a Certified Veterinary Technician
Preferred
- Associates or better in Veterinary Technology or related field
