North America Supply Chain Safety Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Safety Director will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the organization's safety programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment across all locations. Key responsibilities include but will not be limited to:

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT).
  • Ensure that safety protocols are consistently applied across all departments and locations.
  • Establish clear safety goals and objectives aligned with company priorities.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards across the organization’s various environments (e.g., manufacturing, production, warehousing).
  • Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead and oversee routine safety audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Prepare reports on safety findings and recommendations for continuous improvement to be shared across all locations.
  • Ensure timely corrective actions are taken in response to audit results or safety violations and accident investigation.

·         Stay up to date with the latest safety regulations and standards to ensure organizational compliance. Coordinate the submission of regulatory reports and documentation (e.g., OSHA logs, injury reports, environmental compliance).

·         Develop and deliver ongoing safety training programs and accountability for employees at all levels of the organization. Ensure that employees are trained on emergency procedures, equipment use, proper safety practices, and hazard recognition.

·         Manage the reporting, investigation, and documentation of workplace incidents and accidents.

·         Collaborate with Human Resources and management to handle workers' compensation claims and ensure appropriate follow-up actions.

·         Lead the development, implementation, and regular review of emergency response plans and procedures. Ensure that all locations are equipped with necessary emergency response resources (e.g., fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, emergency exits).

·         Coordinate regular emergency drills and simulate crisis scenarios to test response protocols.

·         Standardize safety-related SOPs across all locations to ensure consistency in practices and compliance with company standards.

·         Work closely with regional leaders and department heads to ensure that safety processes are integrated into daily operations.

·         Continuously review and update safety SOPs to reflect best practices, regulatory changes, and operational improvements.

·         Promote and lead a company-wide safety culture by engaging employees in safety initiatives and encouraging a proactive approach to safety.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

·         Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

·         5–7 years of experience in a safety role within logistics, warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing.

·         Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices.

·         Ability to conduct audits, lead training sessions, and influence frontline teams and leaders.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems (e.g., Velocity EHS, KPA, or similar).

·         OSHA 30-hour certification (General Industry).
