This role will have a strong focus on the Orange Beach, Alabama area, with additional coverage across Gulf Shores, Mobile, Pascagoula, and surrounding Gulf Coast marine markets. Join a high-performance team where technical expertise, quality workmanship, and results matter.

About The Role

As a Marine Engine Systems Technician, you’ll perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and service work on marine diesel engines across vessels, shipyards, and customer sites.

  • Perform inspections, overhauls, testing, commissioning, and field service
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic engine-system issues
  • Perform MTU dyno acceptance testing and adjust engines to factory specifications
  • Use OEM diagnostic software to verify and adjust system performance
  • Conduct service work on vessels, shipyards, and customer facilities
  • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation
  • Support sea trials and commissioning activities
  • Represent the company professionally at customer sites
  • Maintain company vehicle and personal tools
  • Mentor apprentices and uphold safety and quality standards
  • Complete required manufacturer training and certifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; technical training or diesel certification preferred
  • 3–5 years of hands-on marine diesel experience
  • Strong experience with marine propulsion and auxiliary engines
  • Proven mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
  • Strong electrical and electronic diagnostic fundamentals
  • Experience with one or more of the following: CAT, Cummins, Volvo Penta, MAN, Detroit, Yanmar, John Deere, or FPT

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain one
  • Automotive/light-duty diesel experience alone will not be considered; candidates must have heavy-duty diesel and/or marine propulsion experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MTU 2000 and/or MTU 4000 experience
  • MTU Service Professional or OEM training
  • MTU electronic diagnostic experience, including ECU, MDEC, and/or DDEC systems
  • Experience with MTU DiaSys
