Responsibilities
- Provide instruction using lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
- Encourage positive student behavior while following district and classroom expectations.
- Adapt to various classroom settings and grade levels as needed.
- Communicate effectively with building administration and staff.
- Leave clear notes for the classroom teacher regarding the day's activities.
- Follow all district policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
Qualifications
- Must meet Indiana Substitute teacher requirements and hold or be eligible for an Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit.
- High school diploma required; additional education preferred in accordance with Indiana Department of Education licensing requirements.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively.
- Successful completion of required background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged children.
- Experience in educational, childcare, youth development, or related settings.
- Flexible and dependable with a positive attitude.
