What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Language Learner Instructional Assistant position at MSD of Steuben County?
Join our team at Hendry Park Elementary School and make a real difference in the lives of our English Learner (EL) students! We're looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to support their academic and linguistic growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be a vital resource for classroom teachers, empowering English Learner (EL) students to thrive academically.
- Utilize effective language teaching strategies to significantly boost English proficiency for students whose home language isn't English.
- Act as a strong advocate, ensuring the unique needs of EL students are met.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth through dedicated EL staff meetings and other development opportunities.
- Maintain open and clear communication about ELs' language development and progress with teachers, administrators, and families.
- Deliver targeted instruction to EL students using online programs, under the guidance of the EL Teacher of Record (TOR).
- Partner with the EL coordinator to create optimal learning schedules, provide engaging daily lessons aligned with WIDA Standards, and offer crucial in-class support.
- Bridge connections between EL families, school events, and valuable community resources.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support our EL students.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working effectively with English Learner (EL) students.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree, OR have a passing ParaPro score, OR successfully complete district IA highly-qualified training modules.
- Must pass a Safe Hiring expanded background check and Indiana DCS index screening.
COMPENSATION
- Rate of Pay: $15.50/hour
- Benefit eligible position.
Start Date: Based upon Board Approval
