Compensation & Benefits: $75,000 to $115,000, plus bonus eligibility

Role Overview
The SBA Loan Closing & Communication Specialist plays a vital role responsible for preparing and reviewing all loan documentation for SBA 7(a) and 504 transactions. This individual ensures that every loan adheres to Bank policies, SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the intent of the internal loan approval. This specialist is the primary point of contact for the client, managing communication throughout the process, facilitating loan closings, and ensuring collateral perfection. This role handles documentation from routine to complex and is crucial for meeting all due diligence requirements.
Essential Duties:
- Serve as the primary communication lead through phone calls and email with the SBA team, clients, and internal stakeholders to proactively manage expectations and timelines.
- Prepare comprehensive SBA loan closing documentation packages strictly following SBA SOPs and internal lender policies.
- Collaborate effectively with third-party vendors including legal counsel, title/escrow companies, insurance agents, and consultants to ensure accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
- Confirm all loan eligibility requirements, borrower and guarantor documentation, and collateral requirements are met.
- Coordinate the execution of loan documents with borrowers, ensuring proper notarization and timely delivery.
- Review approved SBA loan files to confirm all required documents and conditions have been satisfied prior to closing.
- Ensure all required SBA forms are completed and submitted accurately and timely by performing processing and closing functions, ensuring all due diligence requirements for each loan are met.
- Submit loan data and documentation to SBA/E-Tran for authorization and funding.
- Validate closing figures and reconcile disbursements with internal teams and settlement agents.
- Maintain detailed closing checklists and comprehensive file documentation for post-closing review and audit readiness.
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of this role.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of SBA 7(a) and/or 504 loan closing processes, including SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and eligibility requirements.
- Experience developing loan closing documentation through bank documentation systems and prior use of SBA loan platforms is strongly preferred.
- Analytical, adaptable and critical thinking skills to manage complex documentation and validate figures in a changing environment.
- Exceptional communication and people skills to lead client communication and collaborate with multiple internal and external parties.
- Strong organizational skills with a consistent history of maintaining detailed file documentation and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work as a team and provide solution focused suggestions and feedback.
- Integrity and professionalism to consistently earn the trust and confidence of others through honesty and authenticity.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial closing experience, preferably in small business lending.
- Minimum 3 years of direct SBA 7(a) and/or 504 loan closing experience is required.
Physical Requirements
- This is a primarily sedentary position, requiring the ability to sit for long periods of time while working on a computer and performing close vision tasks.
- The role requires a high level of mental fortitude to manage complex documentation, ensure regulatory compliance, maintain a high volume of communication, and work effectively under pressure to meet time-sensitive closing deadlines.
- This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work including infrequent local and out-of-state travel, which may require overnight stays.
