Job Summary
Serve as the analytical engine for all core compensation processes – annual compensation review, bonus allocation, promotions, and budgeting – by delivering rigorous data analysis, market research, and executive-ready reports, under the guidance of the Compensation Manager. Maintain & expand the job description library. Contribute to people analytics projects that strengthen the pay & talent decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation Cycle Management
- Support the end-to-end compensation processes under the guidance of the Compensation Manager, ensuring all analyses, models, and reports are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Data Preparation & Validation – Extract, cleanse, and validate employee data for annual merit, incentive, and promotion processes, guaranteeing accuracy before calculations begin.
- Compensation Cycle Monitoring & Issue Resolution – Track real-time cycle progress, reconcile discrepancies (e.g., missing approvals, data errors), and escalate risks promptly to maintain timeline integrity.
- Post-Cycle Analysis – Consolidate results into executive-ready reports and narrative summaries that highlight spend versus budget, and insights for continuous improvement.
- Ad-Hoc & Periodic Reporting – Produce targeted and recurring reports— e.g. range penetration, compa-ratio distributions, exceptions —translating findings into clear, data-driven recommendations
- Ongoing Budget Support – Assist the Compensation Manager to construct and validate annual compensation budgets, monitor actual expenditures, and flag variances with root-cause commentary.
Market Benchmarking & External Research
- Conduct extensive market research – drawing on multiple surveys, labor-market reports, and other validated sources – to match internal roles to appropriate external benchmarks.
- Identify pay trends and correlate them with talent trends such as turnover, vacancy rates, and hiring difficulty.
Job Descriptions
- Prepares, maintains, and standardizes job descriptions; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by employees.
- Periodically reviews the job descriptions to ensure they are compliant and still relevant to the position.
Compensation Process Improvements
- Documents end-to-end compensation workflows, recommends efficiency enhancements, and implements data-quality checks.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of and accuracy of sensitive compensation data and monitors relevant regulatory developments.
People-Analytics
- Contributes to targeted studies – e.g. turnover analysis, internal mobility trends, and translates the findings into clear, actionable recommendations and compelling, executive-ready visuals.
- Works cross-functionally with other teams (e.g. HR Operations; Data Analytics) on projects related to improving data integrity.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Key Competencies:
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related fields, or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience in compensation or total rewards, as part of an internal department or on vendor-side
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g. formulas, pivots, charts, v-lookups)
- Advanced data visualization skills
- Knowledge of job evaluation methodologies and market pricing
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws affecting HR and compensation
- Strong numerical, analytical, research and problem-solving skills
- Interest and ability to learn new methodologies and platforms
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with large amounts of confidential data
Preferred Skills
- Experience in other HR areas – especially People Analytics
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation or working towards obtaining it
