What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Operations & Systems Intern position at MSB Analytics?
MSB is seeking a Business Operations & Systems Intern to support internal operational initiatives for a growing defense contractor. The intern will assist with process documentation, asset tracking, administrative workflow improvements, and light marketing or communications support. This role provides hands-on experience helping build scalable business systems and improving internal operations. Interns will work directly with company leadership and will be given ownership of defined projects that contribute to the company’s operational growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The intern will assist with a variety of operational and administrative initiatives, including but not limited to:
Support development and maintenance of internal asset and equipment tracking systems
Assist with documentation of internal business processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Help organize and improve internal business systems and operational workflows
Support office operations including supply tracking and vendor coordination
Conduct research on tools or technologies that may improve operational efficiency
Assist with organization of company documentation and shared file systems
Provide light marketing or communications support such as LinkedIn updates or internal announcements
Participate in operational meetings and assist leadership with project-based initiatives
Interns will be expected to demonstrate initiative, organization, and attention to detail while contributing to real operational projects.
Preferred Major:
Students currently pursuing a degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville College of Business, including:
Management
Management Information Systems (MIS)
Marketing
Finance
Accounting
Students interested in business operations, entrepreneurship, or organizational systems are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled undergraduate student
Minimum 2.75 GPA preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability
Work Schedule:
Approximately 15–20 hours per week
In-person role in Huntsville, Alabama (5 minutes from UAH Campus)
Scheduling flexibility provided to accommodate class schedules
