MSAD 75 is seeking a Part Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.
Location: District-wide (Grades PreK-12)
Job Type: School Year, Hourly, Non-Represented
Job Goal(s): The School LPN provides direct nursing care to students within the school district to support their health, safety, and education. This role functions under the guidance and clinical supervision of the School Registered Nurse (RN). The LPN executes the nursing care plans developed by the RN and assists in maintaining a healthy school environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited practical nursing program
- Valid State of Maine Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Valid State of Maine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) authorization
- Valid First Aid, CPR/AED certification
- Prior experience in pediatrics, school health, or public health

Performance Responsibilities:
- Direct Student Care
- Administer prescribed medications according to district policy and Maine state law.
- Perform specialized procedures such as tube feedings, tracheostomy care, blood glucose monitoring, etc.
- Provide basic first aid and emergency care for injuries and sudden illnesses.
- Monitor students with chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, seizures, etc.) as outlined in their Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs).
- Clinical Support & Collaboration
- Assist the School RN with mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.).
- Report any changes in a student’s health status or concerns regarding child neglect/abuse immediately to the supervising RN.
- Contribute data to the RN for the development and revision of Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and 504 Plans.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date electronic health records for every student encounter.
- Ensure immunization records are compliant with Maine Department of Education and CDC requirements.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and stocked school health clinic.
- Deep understanding of the LPN scope of practice in Maine, specifically the requirement to work under the direction of an RN.
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift or assist students (up to 50 lbs periodically).
- Sufficient mobility to respond quickly to medical emergencies anywhere on the school grounds and around the District.
