Now Hiring for an Engineering Manager at our MSA Safety Globe Manufacturing manufacturing plant in Pittsfield, New Hampshire. In this role, you will be counted on to manage a team of engineers across Globe sites. You will be accountable for the performance and results of a team within this discipline and function. You will adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and the business plan. You will also receive guidance from leadership.

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline required, preferably from an ABET accredited program.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques (Value Stream Mapping, One Piece Flow, Setup Reduction, Lean Management, Visual Controls, etc.)

Responsibilities:
- Provides overall leadership to engineering department across multiple Globe sites.
- Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
- Ownership of and development and maintains production work instructions.
- Selects, develops, and trains staff.
- Develops, determines and implements policies, procedures and programs.
- Reviews and analyzes capital and project proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress updates, inform management of status of each project.
- Directs the review of production costs to enhance profitable operation of division.
- Effectively communicates information (both technical and administrative) to staff and senior management on an ongoing basis.
- Collaborates with leadership and direct reports to establish developmental goals and plans.
- Creates learning opportunities and monitors progress toward these goals.
- Establishes the requirements for procurement and supply of necessary production tools, process tooling, and equipment used in production.
- Initiates, leads, participates, and provides training (problem solving, work flexing, etc.) required to effectively complete improvement efforts.
- Works together with factory managers to sustain improvements.
- Participates in MSA Business System activities that include daily communication meetings, department performance monitoring and problem solving.
- Actively participates on new product development (NPD) teams. Provides input to ensure that proposed designs are realistic and feasible within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Communicates challenges of current manufacturing processes and drives efforts to incorporate design for manufacturability and assembly concepts.
- Coordinates participation from peer experts to advise on manufacturability as necessary.
- Recommends capital equipment additions and develop appropriate justifications.
- Effectively manages the implementation and commissioning of such additions.
- Reviews production order closeout variances, determines root causes, and recommends corrective actions.
- Ensures that employee development process is continuous. Remains open to new ideas and champions innovation.
- Resolves conflict through open discussion or mediation. Remains objective and renders final decisions on controversial disputes. Fairly applies disciplinary process, if necessary.
- Ensures cross site alignment and best practices for production.
- Oversees master data, development, and execution in SAP and ABS.
- Recommends budgets to leadership, including staff utilization, technology, facility and equipment requirements or improvements.
- Directs appropriate support for manufacturing functions within the organization.
- Responsibility for manufacturing equipment, processes, and systems.
- Cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely completion of requests supporting customization process: marketing, sales, customer service.
- Partner with MSA Design to ensure product changes are effectively completed and implemented with production.

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline required, preferably from an ABET accredited program.
- Continuing education in management studies expected. MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience
- PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience.
- Advanced degree.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques (Value Stream Mapping, One Piece Flow, Setup Reduction, Lean Management, Visual Controls, etc.)
- Level 1: At least 8 years relevant manufacturing experience required.
- Level 2: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 2 years of direct staff leadership.
- Six Sigma experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with SAP, MS Project, Exenta MES.
