Summary: 
The Engineering Manager/Chief Engineer is responsible for leading engineering operational teams to ensure successful project execution. This role combines strategic leadership with technical authority, overseeing design integrity, resource scheduling, and allocation across multiple projects. The position works closely with clients and internal teams to develop engineering capabilities, maintain engineering standards, and deliver successful outcomes. The engineering manager would also serve as the Chief Engineer to provide technical direction, resolve complex engineering challenges, and ensure compliance with industry standards while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Direct engineering teams and coordinate with operations, project management, quality, and other management teams to ensure efficient delivery of projects.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the Chief Engineer for all projects, ensuring design integrity, compliance with engineering standards, and technical excellence.
  • Resource Management: Develop and manage resource allocation plans; monitor workload distribution and adjust engineering team schedules to meet project demands.
  • Project Delivery: Oversee engineering operations execution to meet project requirements.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a technical liaison with clients; participate in project meetings and provide engineering expertise.
  • Process Development: Establish and maintain engineering best practices, tools, templates, and guidelines for project execution.
  • Planning & Monitoring: Lead planning for small to mid-level projects across all life cycle phases (startup, interim, closeout).
  • Schedule Management: Track project with the project manager and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays.
  • Risk & Issue Resolution: Identify technical and engineering operational issues, facilitate resolutions, and escalate as needed to ensure project success.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive technical innovation and recommend solutions to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
  • Reporting: Prepare and analyze engineering project status reports; communicate progress and risks to stakeholders.
  • Business Development: Identify opportunities with existing clients and new prospects; report findings to leadership.
  • Proposal Support:  Provide detailed engineering inputs, hours estimates, and scope definition in support of proposals.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals.

Education / Experience:                                                                                  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in engineering leadership roles, including project and resource management.
  • Deep knowledge of engineering principles, operations, and project management methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering and project management tools.
  • Experience working with government clients is strongly preferred.
  • DOE Q-Clearance preferred.
