Electrical Engineer – Controls & Automation (Siemens PLC Expert) Rod Mill Plant – Greater Atlanta, GA $100,000 – $120,000 5% bonus full relocation Full-Time • On-site • Relocation assistance provided
We’re hiring the ONLY Controls/Automation Engineer at a high-volume copper rod mill in the Greater Atlanta area — a critical, 24/7 foundry-style operation that supplies the U.S. wire & cable industry.
This is a true “own-it” role: You’ll be the go-to Siemens PLC expert on-site, spending 70% of your time on the plant floor keeping production running, fixing downtime fast, commissioning upgrades, and leading projects (including bringing Fanuc robots back online).
What you’ll do every day
- Troubleshoot & maintain Siemens PLC/HMI systems (TIA Portal is the priority)
- Program logic, commission equipment, and drive continuous improvement
- Work autonomously with full backing from leadership
- Partner directly with maintenance techs and operators
- Own projects end-to-end (example: Fanuc robot reactivation)
Must-Have
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, EET, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related
- 3 years of hands-on controls/automation experience in manufacturing
- Strong Siemens PLC programming & troubleshooting (this is the #1 skill we need)
- Proven ability to work independently as the sole controls resource
- Comfortable in a hot, industrial foundry environment
Nice-to-Have
- AutoCAD (schematics & panel design)
- Fanuc robotics
- SAP or similar ERP
- Power distribution experience
- PMP
Compensation & Benefits
- $100,000 – $120,000 base salary
- 5% annual bonus
- Relocation package up to $10,000 (most take lump-sum)
