About the role The Senior Underwriter will be focused on the successful management of specific client portfolios and relevant market activity within the MS Amlin AG entity. The role holder will take responsibility for maintaining and building new business which profitably grows the Reinsurance business and minimises loss exposures. Your responsibilities Quote, underwrite, manage and attract business on a client relationship basis for the US Regional Portfolio. Alignment to and delivery of tactical client intimacy initiatives within the portfolio(s), markets and product forum. Ensure risks are written within the agreed parameters – making sound long term decisions on risks that are written, with a focus on smart rationale underwriting. Ensure the underwriting exposure reports are maintained and assist in their management and completion on a quarterly basis. Assist in analyzing quarterly figures and producing projections to identify reserving levels required. Liaise with and ensure compliance with underwriting management, taking corrective action as necessary and operating within agreed authorities. Conduct role in accordance with the Company’s Business Ethics policy and all regulated entities as appropriate. Comply with relevant risk, regulatory and legal requirements and with Group policies as directed by the Lead Underwriter and/or Senior Underwriter. Your profile Minimum of 10 years underwriting or broking experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Technologically savvy and data driven. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Good knowledge and experience across US Treaty Reinsurance. Property experience required, and Casualty a strong plus. Vendor Cat modelling knowledge required. Able to demonstrate achievement of client centric value propositions. Existing good working relationships with both clients and brokers; and an overall orientation towards providing exemplary client service are critical. Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders. Good level of influencing and negotiating skills. Proven experience of handling new and renewal business within guidelines under the overall direction of the Head of US Regionals. Good understanding of all relevant contract terms and conditions. Competent in pricing risks within the area of authority. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex and abstract information, and respond appropriately. Ability to travel, conducting meetings with brokers and clients. Underwriting Audit experience is a plus. The individual will be required to proactively manage their time and workload to meet tight deadlines around peak business seasons in supporting the data processing and analytics requirements of the Underwriting team and in connection with Reinsurance Operations functions.
