Part-time Literacy Tutor - Saratoga Springs, NY

Job Summary

Ms. Ali's Literacy Academy is seeking a part-time literacy tutor to join our growing tutoring practice in Saratoga Springs, NY. This position is a great opportunity for a certified teacher with a strong interest in literacy instruction to work one-on-one with elementary and middle school students.

Duties

• Provide one-on-one literacy instruction to elementary and middle school students
• Teach all aspects of literacy such as phonics, spelling, writing, reading fluency, reading comprehension
• Follow individualized lesson plans and instruction based upon each student's needs
• Use a structured, multisensory approach to literacy instruction
• Build positive relationships with students and create a supportive learning environment
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
• Communicate student progress and relevant updates with families & Ms. Ali
• Prepare for tutoring sessions using engaging and appropriate materials and resources
• Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming tutoring environment
• Attend scheduled tutoring sessions reliably and arrive prepared

Requirements

• Valid New York State teaching certification required
• Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, English, or a related field
• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
• Strong knowledge of literacy instruction
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, encouraging, and able to build strong relationships with students
• Reliable, organized, and professional
• Comfortable providing individualized, one-on-one instruction
• Ability to work independently and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
• Orton-Gillingham or structured literacy training is a plus, but not required
• Availability M-Th afternoons/evenings, with additional hours as we grow

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
