Senior Director Test Engineering

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

• Define and execute the vision and strategy for the company's global test engineering organisation across a diverse portfolio of advanced power semiconductor products.
• Establish test standards, methodologies, architecture, and performance metrics aligned with business and manufacturing objectives.
• Build, develop, and lead a high-performing test engineering organisation, including managers, engineers, and technicians.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise test cost, quality, efficiency, and scalability.

Product & Test Development

• Lead the development of comprehensive test strategies for new power semiconductor products from initial development through volume production.
• Oversee the creation, validation, and deployment of electrical, functional, dynamic, reliability, and parametric test methodologies.
• Partner closely with product development and design engineering teams to ensure robust design-for-test (DFT) implementation and manufacturability.
• Define appropriate test coverage to ensure product performance, quality, and long-term reliability.

Test Systems & Automation

• Own the strategy, architecture, and deployment of automated test equipment (ATE) and custom test solutions across development and manufacturing.
• Guide the selection and implementation of hardware, software, instrumentation, and data acquisition platforms.
• Establish best practices for test program development, validation, configuration management, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Drive increased automation, data analytics, and digitalisation to improve manufacturing efficiency, throughput, and yield.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with process engineering, operations, manufacturing, and product teams to align test strategies with production objectives.
• Work closely with quality and reliability organisations to support failure analysis, root cause investigations, and continuous yield improvement.
• Collaborate with supply chain teams and external manufacturing partners to ensure production readiness, capacity planning, and successful product launches.

Manufacturing & Yield Improvement

• Develop scalable production test strategies supporting both engineering and high-volume manufacturing.
• Analyse production and test data to identify yield opportunities and implement corrective actions.
• Lead qualification, optimisation, and ongoing maintenance strategies for production test equipment.

Compliance & Operational Excellence

• Ensure all test engineering activities comply with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Develop and maintain robust documentation, engineering standards, operating procedures, and technical training materials.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Strong technical background in semiconductor test engineering within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Deep understanding of automated test equipment (ATE), production test methodologies, and data-driven yield improvement.
• Experience working with external manufacturing partners, assembly providers, and semiconductor supply chain ecosystems.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional and global teams.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering organisations through periods of growth and technology expansion.
