MRI Technologies, NASA's largest engineering solutions provider, is looking for a Space Hardware Project Engineer to join our team with the JETS Contract, supporting the Johnson Space Center Engineering Directorate. In this role you will help envision, shape, and deliver the systems that enable exploration of space while benefiting people here on Earth, contributing to NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.

A Day in the Life

Your responsibilities will include providing design and test support across various phases of hardware development, and supporting project teams with test procedures and verification and validation processes. You will perform testing and verification of flight hardware, and maintain and ensure baseline test configurations, documenting any configuration changes. A core part of the role is generating essential paperwork for assigned tasks, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP). You will work in a collaborative team environment, reporting to project managers for technical support, task assignment, and processes. You will also plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within hardware or test support hardware, working closely with technicians to build and test designed systems.

What We Are Looking For

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area
  • BS degree in an engineering field from an accredited engineering school
  • Ability to work autonomously when required
  • Self-motivated, team player with adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required
  • Ability to operate in a laboratory environment and perform necessary troubleshooting tasks
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Preferences:

  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware
  • Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
  • Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis
  • Experience with procedure development
  • Co-op or intern experience at JSC or another NASA agency
  • Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process
  • Prior experience working and coordinating requirements with third party/outside vendors
  • Familiarity with NASA Quality operational procedures and requirements
  • Willingness to work off hours/alternative shifts when running tests
