The MRC Summer Track & Field Series is seeking qualified Operations Manager to lead and direct events of four track & field meets taking place on Thursday evenings at Manchester High School on July 9, 16, 23rd and 30th as well as potentially two other events. This is a seasonal, temporary position from approximately June 1st - August 1st, 2026.
The Track & Field Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and on-site execution of a weekly summer track & field series serving approximately 600 athletes of all ages per meet. This individual will oversee all event logistics, supervise staff, coordinate independent contractors, and ensure that each meet runs efficiently, safely, and professionally.
This is a seasonal, part-time position averaging approximately 5-10 hours per week, with required on-site attendance during scheduled meets. Administrative responsibilities may be completed remotely outside of event days.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead logistical planning and execution of weekly track & field meets and one youth clinic
- Oversee event set-up and break-down procedures
- Supervise approximately 30 event staff members
- Coordinate and manage independent contractors, including starter and timing personnel
- Ensure safe, organized, and timely operation of all events
- Maintain and oversee accurate event records and data entry
- Utilize event management platforms (e.g., Athletic.net, Runsignup.com familiarity preferred)
- Maintain confidentiality of participant and organizational information
- Support additional administrative tasks as needed, including:
- Donor recognition
- Light graphic design
- Website updates and maintenance
- General communications and coordination
- Social media management
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience planning or managing events of similar size and scope (500 participants preferred)
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating vendors or contractors
- Interest and experience in track & field and/or youth sports required
- Proficiency with standard computer applications; familiarity with Athletic.net and runsignup.com or similar a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to professionalism
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must pass a criminal background check and complete SafeSport Certification

This position is grant-funded for 2026 and may be renewed on an annual basis depending on availability of funds. Compensation is paid as a stipend and selected candidate will act as an independent contractor.
