Our client, a high-growth, private equity–backed lower mid-market professional services firm, is seeking an experienced executive to step into the Head of Technology / CIO role. This opportunity is well-suited for a proven HoT/CIO or a strong second-in-command ready to assume full enterprise ownership.

The firm operates a modern, cloud-first, buy-versus-build technology environment with a lean internal team and significant reliance on SaaS platforms, MSPs and external partners to support infrastructure and business operations.

In addition to scaling technology operations, the HoT/CIO will own a business-case-driven enterprise data and analytics roadmap, including data governance, analytics and reporting to support executive and investor visibility across business units and practice areas.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Define and own the firm’s enterprise technology strategy aligned to business objectives, growth plans and investor expectations
  • Partner with client-delivery and functional leaders to improve service delivery efficiency through technology, including practical AI enablement and workflow automation
  • Lead IT operations across systems, infrastructure, hardware, internal staff and external Managed Service Providers, ensuring reliability, scalability and cost discipline
  • Build and evolve cloud data and analytics infrastructure to support reporting, decision-making and performance management
  • Own technology integration strategy and execution for acquisitions, including diligence support and post-merger integration
  • Manage all technology vendors and partners, including MSPs, SaaS ERP, practice-level platforms and external project resources
  • Present, manage and report on the enterprise technology budget, including business cases for investments and ongoing ROI tracking
  • Define, enforce and govern enterprise technology standards across security, data and architecture while collaborating closely with senior leadership and investors

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Information Systems
  • Senior technology leadership experience as a Head of Technology, CIO or second-in-command, preferably within a professional services organization operating a cloud-first model
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure–based productivity, data and security platforms, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Teams, SharePoint, Data Factory, Fabric, Intune, Defender, Firewall and Sentinel
  • Ownership of vendor relationships, including Managed Service Providers, SaaS platform vendors and external technology service partners
  • Accountability for IT operations, including security, network and systems administration, data infrastructure and telecommunications
  • Ownership of enterprise SaaS ERP environments such as NetSuite
  • Ability to deliver business-focused IT services supporting client delivery teams and internal stakeholders
  • Experience developing and presenting business cases, technology roadmaps and investment recommendations to executive leadership and investors
  • Working knowledge of data governance, analytics and reporting to support management decision-making and performance visibility
  • Experience supporting growth through acquisitions, including technology diligence, integration planning and post-merger execution
