Position Overview
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll help promote independence and meaningful engagement by assisting with personal care, household tasks, and community activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care: bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene
- Perform light housekeeping and laundry to maintain a safe, clean environment
- Prepare and serve meals/snacks; assist with grocery shopping and meal planning
- Provide transportation and accompany the individual to medical appointments and community outings (movies, mall, swimming, etc.)
- Support self-administration of medication
- Document daily services using a computer
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the social well-being of clients.
- Monitor and document client progress and changes in condition, reporting any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and social interaction.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for clients by maintaining hygiene standards and adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Reliable, compassionate, and respectful of individual needs
- Care giving experience is helpful, but not required
