Bookseller

Mr. K's is hiring! We are looking for people that are passionate about and have a strong base knowledge of books. A bookseller at Mr. K's is part customer service and part merchandiser. Booksellers are first and foremost responsible for providing a knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful experience to all customers. Booksellers also handle all the pricing and shelving of product across the store.

Interest and knowledge about movies, music, and comic books is also a plus.

The position requires working 4 days a week and flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Previous bookstore, literary studies and/or retail experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver exceptional customer service at check-out and incoming trades, including greeting customers and fielding all questions in a helpful manner.

- Checking out all customers at the register following Mr. K's trade guidelines and check-out practices. Includes being able to do basic math quickly. Ensuring all customer transactions are accurate and done in a timely manner.

- Booksellers are required to become fully trained and be able to price all categories of product across the store.

- Responsible for product placement on the sales floor based on merchandising guidelines during each shift

- Recover the selling floor during each shift: restocking inventory, straightening all sections the store.

- Other duties include but are not limited to: assisting department directors, receiving shipments, display assembly and maintenance, moving displays, restroom and floor cleanliness, storage organization.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

At least two years of higher education or comparable work experience in a retail customer service role is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time

- Will need to bend, squat, crouch, stand on stools to restock inventory during each shift

- May need to lift heavy boxes or bags of books that come into the trade desk
