Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial software, and industry standards such as GAAP and SOX compliance. This role involves managing vendor invoices, processing payments, and ensuring accurate record-keeping within a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will contribute to maintaining the integrity of our financial operations and support overall organizational efficiency.
Duties
- Process and verify vendor invoices using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday
- Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accounts payable transactions
- Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts payable and general ledger activities
- Maintain detailed records of payments, credits, and debits in accordance with company policies
- Ensure compliance with internal controls such as SOX regulations
- Collaborate with the accounting team to support accounts receivable, payroll management, and benefits administration tasks
- Support audits by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions
- Utilize data entry skills (10 key typing) to accurately input financial data into various systems like ADP, Kronos, or Ceridian
- Contribute to maintaining accurate financial records in compliance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles within a corporate or public accounting environment
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, UltiPro, or similar platforms like Paychex, HRIS systems, or Sage is preferred
- Knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting
- Experience working with payroll systems such as ADP or Kronos is advantageous
- Ability to analyze financial data accurately with excellent attention to detail
- Prior experience in non-profit or governmental accounting is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills combined with effective communication abilities are essential for success in this role
Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
