The Terminal Manager/Diesel Mechanic is responsible for overseeing daily terminal operations while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant service to customers. This position provides leadership and supervision to drivers, mechanics, dispatch, and operations staff while also performing and overseeing maintenance and repair of diesel-powered equipment, tractors, trailers, loaders, and other company vehicles. The Terminal Manager/Diesel Mechanic plays a key role in safety, employee management, equipment reliability, DOT compliance, and operational efficiency.
Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of engines, chassis, driveline, body components, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, wheels, and tires.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct supervision of employees performing driving, dispatch, loading, maintenance, and other terminal operations-related work. Supervision includes hiring, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary action when necessary.
- Oversees daily terminal operations to ensure productivity, safety, customer satisfaction, and compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.
- Monitors overtime, attendance, payroll hours, equipment utilization, fuel usage, and maximum payloads.
- Resolves unusual or unscheduled service requests, equipment breakdowns, route issues, and schedule changes.
- Develops employee work schedules and assigns workloads to maximize operational efficiency and meet business demands.
- Coordinates dispatch, routing, and equipment availability to ensure efficient customer service and timely completion of work.
- Performs administrative duties including reviewing and processing route sheets, repair orders, inspection reports, payroll/timekeeping records, and other operational documents.
- Conducts employee observations and safety audits to ensure safe work practices and productivity standards are being followed.
- Responds to employee concerns, driver reports, unsafe conditions, accidents, and customer complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Provides operational and maintenance status updates to upper management and assists with business planning and labor management.
- Coordinates with customers, vendors, and internal departments to improve service levels and terminal performance.
- Investigates accidents, injuries, equipment damage, and property damage claims and completes all required documentation.
- Conducts pre-employment orientation, driver evaluations, and ongoing employee safety training.
- Ensures safety meetings and compliance training are conducted as required by company and safety department standards.
- Assists with diagnosing mechanical issues using diagnostic software, technical manuals, schematics, and computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Performs and oversees repairs and preventative maintenance on diesel, gasoline, and electric-powered trucks, tractors, trailers, loaders, and other company equipment.
- Examines and inspects equipment for mechanical defects, loose components, safety concerns, and compliance issues.
- Reads and interprets Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs), repair orders, and driver concerns to determine proper repairs and preventative maintenance needs.
- Communicates repair status, maintenance recommendations, and preventative maintenance procedures with drivers and management.
- Completes all maintenance paperwork accurately including work orders, parts usage, labor tracking, and inspection reports.
- Responds to emergency roadside breakdowns and performs necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized shop and terminal environment.
- May operate company vehicles or equipment as needed to support business operations and staffing shortages.
- Ensures all work is performed in compliance with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, DOT regulations, and environmental policies.
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

- Based on Experience. 80K-90K a year

- 2 Years experience with diesel engine maintenance
- Own Tools Knowledge of DPF/regen systems is a plus.
