Janitor

MPS Group, Inc. is seeking a Janitor to join our team at the Cleveland Cliffs Facility located in Middletown, OH. This individual will be responsible for performing general labor tasks at various industrial job sites. This includes sweeping, mopping, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and breakroom areas, cleaning windows and blinds/curtains, cleaning offices, and restocking toilet paper, paper towel dispensers, and soap.

Shift: 1st Shift

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Equipment/Material Handling: Load and unload materials for each job, ensuring all necessary items are available on-site.
• Restock all toiletry materials in bathrooms.
• Use of Vacuum cleaners, brooms, mop and mop buckets, dusters, shop vacs, and cleaning carts.
• Manual Labor:
• Perform manual tasks such as cleaning bathrooms, offices, hallways, conference rooms, emptying trash cans.
• Use manual tools (brooms, vacuums, mops, etc.) to assist with janitorial cleaning operations.
• Safety and PPE: Inspect, use, and maintain various personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, FR uniforms, metatarsal boots, and gloves.
• Adhere to all quality and safety requirements during job performance, ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
• Follow all job-specific safety procedures and report any potential hazards or safety concerns.
• General Maintenance and Housekeeping:
• Perform routine janitorial tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in all work areas, including job sites and equipment storage areas.
• Site-Specific Duties:
• Execute any additional responsibilities as specified by the site manager or client.
  

Physical Qualifications:

• Must be drug-free and able to comply with company drug testing policies.
• No medical conditions that would impair the use of respiratory equipment.
• Able to pass a basic medical exam as required.
• Able to stand, kneel, bend, and work for extended periods of time.
• Able to bend to within 6 inches of the ground and perform tasks at various heights.
• Able to climb ladders and stairs without difficulty and work from heights when necessary.
• Manual dexterity is sufficient for handling small tools and parts (e.g., nuts, bolts, and fasteners).
• Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
• Able to work in extreme temperature conditions (both hot and cold).
• Good vision and hearing to identify hazards and ensure safety.
  
  
  

Work Environment:

• Work will be performed in various industrial settings, both indoors and outdoors, including environments such as:
• Chemical plants
• Steel mills
• Automotive plants
• Power plants
• Other challenging industrial environments.
• Work will involve exposure to potential hazards, including extreme temperatures, and industrial chemicals. PPE is required for protection.
  
  

Knowledge:

• Ability to understand basic equipment operating instructions and safe work practices.
• Familiarity with commercial and industrial janitorial processes, including cleaning operations.
• Must understand safety regulations and be able to apply them in practical settings.
  
  
  

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Basic mathematical skills to assist with measurements and calculations as required for the job.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
• Comfortable working in diverse industrial environments with varying conditions.
  
  
  

Education / Certifications / Credentials:

• High School education is preferred, but not mandatory.
• A current driver’s license is preferred.
• OSHA Safety Training is required.
• Ability to obtain a chauffeur's license for advancement opportunities.
• Powered Industrial Truck certifications (e.g., hi-lo, aerial lift, burden carrier) are desired.
