Senior Field IT Technician

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a Senior Field IT Technician who wants to be in the field – not on the bench.

This role involves a mix of end-user support, infrastructure deployment, and structured cabling, requiring both technical depth and hands-on execution. This is a hands-on, client-facing role requiring strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

This role requires availability to travel on short notice to support urgent or emergency requests.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Perform onsite deployment and setup of network appliances, workstations, and peripherals while maintaining safe work practices.
• Provide onsite desktop support, including user onboarding/offboarding, device provisioning, and general endpoint support.
• Support installation and troubleshooting of workstations, printers, cameras, VoIP phones, mobility devices, and related infrastructure.
• Perform Layer 1 structured cabling work, including cable runs, remediation, patch panel terminations, and rack & stack
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across endpoints and network environments.
• Conduct technical site assessments to determine scope, complexity, and level of effort required.
• Collaborate with internal and client IT teams to identify issues and implement remediation plans.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, network diagrams, and deployment notes.
• Ensure all field service reports, timesheets, expenses, and inventory records are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends and technologies, contributing to continuous improvement of IT systems and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years of Field IT experience is mandatory.
• Degree or diploma in Computer Networking, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, including addressing, subnetting, routing, and troubleshooting
• Industry certifications such as:
• CompTIA A
• CompTIA Network
• CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) (preferred but not required)

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in desktop support, technical support, or helpdesk environments, with the ability to translate remote support skills into onsite execution.
• Experience with Layer 1 infrastructure, including structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6), cable remediation, patch panels, and rack & stack.
• Working knowledge of Cisco, Fortinet, Ubiquiti and Arista ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience deploying, configuring and supporting:
• Network appliances
• Access control systems
• IP-based telephony
• NAS and related infrastructure
• Camera systems

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Strong communication skills with the ability to support technical and non-technical stakeholders (including executives).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable performing physically demanding work, including lifting 40 lbs, working at heights, climbing ladders, and safely operating access equipment such as step ladders, extension ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts in varied field environments.
• Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time, including short-notice trips, out-of-state assignments, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as needed.
