JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Mpls Downtown Improvement District is looking for a Storage Program Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of our Downtown Community Storage, a Mpls Downtown Improvement District (MDC/DID) program providing short-term personal property storage for community members. The coordinator creates a welcoming, safe, and secure environment, while maintaining the internal tracking database through accurate data entry and reporting to support program growth.

What You’ll Be Doing...

  • Provide operational support and program coordination under the direction of the Program Manager.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and hospitality to all clients and guests. Respond to inquiries regarding the facility, available services, and public restrooms.
  • Prioritize the safety and security of all guests, stored items, and daily operations. Facilitate the intake, documentation, and retrieval process for clients' personal belongings.
  • Organize stored items to ensure accurate, consistent, and efficient identification of ownership.
  • Manage the abandoned property process by contacting clients regarding missed check-ins and executing disposal procedures.
  • Perform accurate data entry into the tracking database to maintain reliable program records.
  • Generate operational reports and review data to support consistency and program improvements.
  • Provide administrative support as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • At least six (6) months of experience in a customer service role.
  • Skilled and experienced in customer service, customer de-escalation, and conflict resolution.
  • Lived experience with housing instability, homelessness, and/or past work experience serving those impacted by homelessness preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a small team environment.
  • Proven ability to complete tasks accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, using an iPad, and database data entry.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to changing operational needs.
  • Physical ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. overhead, at the waist, and below the waist.
  • Physical ability to constantly walk and stand, and frequently bend, stoop, climb, and kneel.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is physically demanding and operates within the Storage Program facility, which includes an office setting, a customer service area, and a warehouse-style storage environment. The position requires the physical ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. both overhead and below the waist. Additionally, the candidate must be able to constantly walk and stand for extended periods during the workday, and frequently bend, stoop, climb, and kneel to manage operations effectively.

JOB DETAILS

Reports to: Storage Program Manager

Location: Downtown Community Storage (516 N 2nd Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403)

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

Classification: Non-exempt (Hourly)

Hours/Week: 40 hours per week

Compensation: $22/hour with benefits

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:45 a.m.-5:15 p.m.
