SUMMARY:
This position will assist the Teacher Librarian with the tasks required to effectively run a library, assist with library lessons, organize materials and help students find the resources they need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise daily book collection/return
- Monitor student behavior during library class and check out times.
- Observe and discuss student progress and/or concerns with District Teacher Librarian or classroom teacher.
- Assist with students in various settings.
- Train appropriate personnel to use the Circulation System.
- Catalog new materials, run overdue notices, process lost books/fine and update student records
- Help to maintain an organized library (this could include but not be limited to processing new books, shelve books, pull books, inventory, )
- Help with technology (assign & repair)
- Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and Board Policies.
- All other duties as assigned by the principal
- Assist in maintaining computer programs.
- Assist with Library lessons
- Support lesson plans as assigned by the District Teacher Librarian
- Perform various typing and/or copying assignments
- Make recommendations for books to replace or remove from collection
- Maintain list of supplies needing to be purchased
- Update, create/assemble materials for monthly displays

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Degree or higher
- Experience working in educational or having knowledge of the Circulation System is preferred
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
