The Production Scheduler Planner develops and maintain the Master Production Schedule utilizing foretasted orders received from the Marketing & Sales function, customer orders already received, finished goods inventories and manufacturing capacities. Be a key participant in developing and maintaining the MRP system to insure that work orders are released at the appropriate times and that materials are ordered and delivered in a timely manner to meet production requirements while maintaining inventories at optimum levels. Organize the monthly ESP planning process and issue detailed ESP reports summarizing expected sales for the next twelve months. Cross train in the areas of Purchasing and Sales Administration. Execute responsibilities in the ISO 9001/AS9100 environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- On a weekly basis: 1) update and maintain forecast business in MPS, 2) generate MPS, 3) review the MPS exceptions report and determine desired actions, 4) modify the MPS, and 5) run MRP.
- Determine production requirements based upon information received from Marketing & Sales relating to already received and forecast customer orders, and considering inventories, expected quality and timeliness of materials deliveries and outside services, and plant capacities. Plant capacity information shall be obtained from manufacturing personnel.
- Create, release and maintain work orders for manufactured components and sub-assemblies as suggested by MRP or as needed by manufacturing to support achievement of the Master Production Schedule.
- In cooperation with product engineers and Quality personnel, maintain an up-to-date computerized Bill of Materials for each product.
- Monitor inventory on a monthly basis and recommend actions to management which will reduce inventory without harming business operations.
- Making use of reports and other sources of information, collaborate with manufacturing personnel to insure system settings cause production activities to start early to meet commitments to customers. Also, make sure that the system provides for the timely and accurate ordering of sufficient quantities of required materials through system settings or the stocking of selected long-lead-time materials.
- Using the Vendor Rating System and conversations with Purchasing personnel, maintain knowledge of the performance of vendors and adjust planning and scheduling to minimize potential disruptions in work flow due to probable late delivery of materials or services.
- In combination with Purchasing, notify manufacturing personnel and production engineers of new, actual or pending material or outside service shortages, and adjust MPS as necessary to take this information into account.
- Coordinate activities with the Supervisor – Shipping/Receiving, Material Control & Export Control to insure that “picklists” are available for any materials not stored at Point of Use in the manufacturing area.
- Be present on the manufacturing floor to have a sense of how operations are progressing and to know whether the system is mirroring actual production operations.
- Prepare the ESP planning spreadsheets used by operations personnel. When the ESP plan solidifies, make sure that MPS incorporates the ESP plan.
- Prepare special reports as directed by the MPDC Manager – Sales Administration & Materials and/or company President.
- Perform any other duty assigned by the MPDC Manager – Sales Administration & Materials and/or President.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in accounting, purchasing and/or production planning functions.
- Strong written, oral and verbal communicator.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
- Experience coordinating multiple activities with multiple internal and external customers.
- Experience meeting and exceeding monthly goals.
Salary : $42,700 - $54,100
