Position: Quality ManagerPosition Summary
The Quality Manager provides leadership and direction for MPC Plating’s quality function, including oversight of the quality management system, quality staff, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction, ensuring compliance with quality standards, managing corrective action processes, and supporting the organization's commitment to operational excellence and IATF certification requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead and manage Quality Department personnel, including oversight of off-site product and process evaluations conducted by contractors
Serve as the primary liaison between Production, Plating, and Management regarding quality concerns and non-conforming products
Manage the non-conformance process and drive timely resolution of quality issues
Oversee the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process and associated team activities
Act as a customer advocate by building and maintaining strong relationships with customer quality representatives
Provide data-driven quality metrics and performance feedback to leadership
Monitor quality system performance through process control methodologies, trend analysis, corrective actions, and root cause investigations
Identify systemic quality issues and collaborate with department leaders to implement preventive and corrective solutions
Conduct plant-wide quality audits and develop improvement plans based on audit findings
Respond to customer quality concerns through formal written responses and on-site customer visits as required
Participate in the resolution of product quality issues through collaboration with Operations, Sales, and customer representatives
Coordinate supplier and vendor quality-related concerns
Lead and maintain IATF certification efforts and ensure successful completion of external audits
Support projects related to quality improvement and customer satisfaction initiatives
Supervise quality testing activities and validation projects
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Competencies, Skills & Experience
Quality management experience, preferably within automotive manufacturing, plating, or related industrial environments
Experience managing quality systems and quality assurance processes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quality assurance skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop employees and cross-functional teams
Proven ability to establish and maintain strong customer relationships
Ability to analyze complex situations and implement practical solutions
Ability to interpret written procedures, diagrams, schedules, and technical documentation
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate quality expectations throughout the organization
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
Working knowledge of IATF 16949 quality management systems and associated standards
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
Experience with Plex ERP or similar cloud-based ERP systems
Previous experience leading certification audits and continuous improvement initiatives
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work in a manufacturing environment with regular interaction across production, laboratory, and office settings
Routinely walk throughout the facility to conduct audits, investigations, and quality reviews
Occasional travel may be required for customer visits, supplier evaluations, or quality-related meetings
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, suppliers, and auditors
May occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment related to inspections and testing activities
