Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including patient assessment, care planning, treatment implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
- Administer infusion medications safely and effectively while maintaining knowledge of infusion therapies and medication protocols.
- Initiate and manage vascular access, including peripheral IVs, implanted ports, PICC lines, and central lines.
- Obtain laboratory specimens and perform related clinical procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Follow chemotherapy and hazardous drug handling procedures, infection prevention standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, self-care, and available resources.
- Provide compassionate emotional support while protecting patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and departmental service excellence activities.
- Support infusion center operations, patient access, and efforts to enhance patient satisfaction and service delivery.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous clinical nursing experience with strong assessment, medication administration, and patient care skills.
- Knowledge of infection prevention, patient safety, and nursing standards of practice.
- Strong communication, organizational, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Vascular access experience, including IVs, ports, PICC lines, and central lines.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) chemotherapy/immunotherapy provider certification.
- Experience in oncology, infusion therapy, or chemotherapy administration.
