Job Summary
We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer – Bridge Design with 5–10 years of experience in the planning, analysis, and design of bridge and transportation structures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience delivering bridge projects for state and local transportation agencies and possess strong technical skills in structural analysis, design, and project coordination.
Experience with MicroStation is required, and familiarity with Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) standards, policies, and procedures is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related transportation structures.
- Prepare design calculations, engineering reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Develop bridge plans and details using MicroStation and related design software.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including roadway, geotechnical, traffic, and construction engineering disciplines.
- Assist in bridge inspections, condition assessments, rehabilitation, and replacement projects.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals during construction.
- Ensure designs comply with AASHTO, CTDOT, FHWA, and applicable state and local standards.
- Participate in client meetings, project coordination, and technical presentations.
- Support proposal development and project pursuit activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
- 5–10 years of bridge design experience.
- Proficiency in MicroStation.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software.
- Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Experience preparing bridge plans, calculations, and technical reports.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain PE in the near future.
- Experience with CTDOT bridge projects and standards.
- Familiarity with Bentley OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, LARSA, CSI Bridge, SAP2000, or similar structural analysis software.
- Bridge inspection experience is a plus.
- Experience working on rehabilitation, replacement, and new bridge construction projects.
Salary : $120,000 - $180,000
