Mozaic (A Chapter of The Arc NY) is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) Trainer. The Direct Support Professional Trainer is responsible for assisting Direct Support Professionals in successfully applying the knowledge and skills gained in classroom-based training to their day-to-day work. This role ensures that learning is effectively transferred into practice by providing guidance, coaching, and real-time support in the work setting. As a subject matter expert, mentor, and coach, the DSP Trainer reinforces organizational standards, state regulations, and best practices while promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth for staff supporting individuals supported by Mozaic.
Location: The Center of Life Long Learning, Penn Yan
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Days vary
Key Responsibilities:
As a DSP Trainer, you will support newly hired Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in applying the skills and knowledge gained through DSP Skills Training, while reinforcing key concepts and providing ongoing opportunities for professional growth and development. You will ensure all training programs meet state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies, while maintaining accurate training records and monitoring DSP certification requirements. In this role, you will serve as a mentor and resource for DSPs, offering coaching, guidance on best practices, and support in overcoming workplace challenges. You will also partner with supervisors to identify training needs and address performance gaps. Additionally, you will evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, observation, and performance metrics, and continuously update training materials to reflect current regulations, best practices, and industry trends.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, or related field preferred.
A valid New York driver's license is required.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience as a DSP or in a similar role within IDD services. Prior experience in training, coaching, or staff development strongly preferred.
Skills:
Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to adapt training methods to diverse learning styles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS).
