What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guard Shack Attendant - Part Time position at Moynihan Lumber of Beverly?
Job Purpose: The Guard Shack position exists to support loss prevention efforts by verifying customers’ outgoing yard products against their invoices before they leave the property.
Responsibilities:
- Verify customers' outgoing yard products against invoices before they leave the property.
- Provide customer service by engaging with customers and fielding questions about product availability, location, pricing, and other general inquiries.
- Process timely and accurate customer purchases at the guard shack by developing familiarity with yard materials and their corresponding SKUs, and work the store sales counter when necessary.
- Inspect and verify customer return materials. If approved, process the return while the customer restocks the materials.
- Monitor yard activity through security cameras and direct observation and report concerns.
- Document materials already present on customer vehicles prior to loading to prevent confusion and help resolve potential discrepancies.
- Verify loads on outgoing company delivery vehicles for correct materials, measurements, and quantities against the order paperwork to ensure accurate deliveries.
- Direct delivery drivers to the appropriate location, and communicate their arrival to yard staff.
- Maintain the guard shack, storefront and surrounding parking lot including end-of-day litter removal, occasional weed control and sand removal, and identifying and replacing missing or outdated yard signs as needed.
- Cut rubber roofing to the requested length following customer payment.
- Spray paint the ends of cull lumber to distinguish it from regular-priced materials.
Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Job requires leaving the guard shack to inspect customer purchases throughout the day in all weather conditions.
Tool/Lumber knowledge a plus, but willing to train motivated candidates.
