What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Moyer Law Group?
Moyer Law Group, a boutique construction litigation defense firm located in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, is seeking a full-time Paralegal. This position will provide support to multiple attorneys in a close-knit office environment. Qualified candidates will have paralegal experience in the area of civil defense, preferably construction defect litigation. Additionally, candidates should be able to, or be willing to, learn the following primary targeted duties:
- Retrieving deeds, certificates of occupancy, and architectural plans, and creating summaries of the information
- Preparing documents and records produced in project files or medical records, including Bates numbering and redaction
- Drafting scope-specific discovery requests
- Drafting responses to discovery requests
- Communicating with other parties, non-parties, and third-party vendors to obtain discovery records
- Preparing discovery summaries
- Analysis/preparation of summaries of client project files and other production using research tools and data management systems
Additional tasks and skills:
- Conducting legal research related to pleading and motion preparation
- Assisting in preparation for court hearings and depositions, including arranging exhibits, pretrial notebooks, and other relevant documents
- Preparing trial subpoenas and coordinating scheduling of witnesses
- Trial support and trial attendance; preparing exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for use at trial and coordinating with AV or other trial vendors
- Billing per client guidelines
- Conducting fact investigation and analysis, utilizing Sunbiz and PeopleMaps
- Preparing building department records requests
- Participating in client interviews
- Interviewing witnesses, including obtaining affidavits and written statements
- Strong team player, with the ability to work with employees at all levels
- Excellent communication skills, in-office and with external parties
- Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and efficiently
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to efficiently gather, maintain, and organize information and records
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This role requires all work to be conducted on-site during regular business hours; remote work options are not available. Only applicants residing in the Tampa Bay area will be considered.
